Dedicated to honoring outstanding journalism in Asia, the SOPA 2009 Awards for Editorial Excellence promises to be bigger and more expansive than ever. This year, entries were from a broader geographical mix; a true reflection of the Awards' high standing across the region.
Winners were announced at a prize presentation held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong to celebrate brilliant reporting.

Message from the Chairman |
As the newly elected SOPA Chairman for 2008/2009 taking the baton from my predecessor Alan Lammin since April 1, I am extremely proud of the opportunities SOPA has been able to create for local and international media brands in Asia since its founding in 1982.
Over the past 27 years, SOPA has dedicated itself to preserving freedom of the press in the Asia region and to ensuring that independent, quality journalism is observed, encouraged and acknowledged.
