Kevin Brown
Kevin Brown was appointed Asia News Editor of the Financial
Times in December 2004, and is based in Hong Kong. He joined the
Financial Times in 1980 in London, and has been Parliamentary Correspondent,
Transport Correspondent, Australasia Correspondent, National News
Editor, Chief Political Correspondent, Industry Editor, UK Affairs
Editor, and Personal Finance Editor.
He is responsible for the news gathering operation throughout
the Asia/Pacific region, for the presentation of Asian news in the
Asia edition and in the FT's three other global editions, and for
the Asian news coverage of FT.com.
Brown has specialized in politics throughout much of
his career, and has covered general elections in five countries
(the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Fiji). He is married
with one daughter, and his other interests include 19th Century
English literature, watching cricket and painting. He is trying
to learn Cantonese, without success.
Before joining the FT, Brown worked for Lloyd's List,
the international shipping and insurance daily newspaper, and for
several other UK newspapers.
