Leonard M. Apcar

 

Leonard M. Apcar has been a correspondent and editor for more than 30 years first for The Wall Street Journal and later for The New York Times and its global edition, the International Herald Tribune.

 

He arrived in Hong Kong three years ago as deputy managing editor of the Herald Tribune and chief Asia editor. The award-winning Asia edition has the largest circulation of any international newspaper in the region. Previously, Mr. Apcar was editor-in-chief for of NYTimes.com, the world's largest newspaper web site. Under his leadership, the site, which is considered an industry pacesetter, won numerous awards. He lectures frequently on web journalism, strategy and product development.

 

He is a member of the award subcommittee of the Society of Publishers in Asia and an advisor to the Pulitzer Prize Winners Workshop at Hong Kong Baptist University. In the U.S., he is a board member of the National Press Foundation and a former board member of the Online News Association.
